%Arabica in Berlin

Enjoying coffee with style – the café %Arabica, with its inviting design, is located in the middle of the trendy Kreuzberg district and is part of a Japanese franchise chain active in eleven countries. The first franchise store, which offers selected coffee specialties and snacks, was this one in Berlin. The interior, inspired by the reduced design of Dieter Rams, is characterised by glassy transparency and straightforwardness. The partially glazed kitchen in the centre of the space impresses as the central design element. White and shades of brown define the location’s colour world, and the furniture is well-conceived down to the smallest details: from a white lacquered coffee machine to brown Thonet classics. The architectural office Atelier Fanelsa chose 24 cantilever chairs S 33 by Mart Stam with natural brown buffalo hide in the “Pure Materials” version. This collection is characterised by its sustainable production and use of natural, intentionally untreated materials. The tubular steel classics, lined up at white tables arranged in straight lines, enable the highest seating comfort while enjoying a cup of coffee, a cosy breakfast or lunch.
